No Hotlining of Wired for Health Care Quality Act

The U.S. Senate was trying to "hotline", or pass without floor debate, the Wired for Health Care Quality Act. This act is designed to provide grants and support for the adoption of health information technology. Amongst the many criticisms of the act, the main were:

  1. Failure to incorporate adequate patient privacy protections

  2. Lack of funding ($278 million) to support the scope of the act
